Ray spent his early career in medium and large organisations at Financial Director level. He followed that with a ten year entrepreneurial phase when he created four small enterprises, two of which were spectacularly successful. This experience led him to re-invent Accountancy services for small businesses. He took the advantages that big Companies gain from a professional Finance Department and translated these into services which could be made available cheaply and efficiently in small businesses. He passionately believes that Accountants should be proactive and not just filers of tax returns once a year.
He is an active member of the accountancy community around the UK and Europe, seeking out alternative ways that the profession can help small businesses to succeed. His own practice has always embraced modern technology the moment it became relevant to SMEs. Things like Cloud Accounting systems, Cloud Finance services, invoice readers, payment and paperless systems.
Ray is a Regional Past President of CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) and a member of the Brussels based SME Forum of the European Federation of Accountants. He is a SFEDI certified Business Mentor and holds the CIMA practising certificate.
Ray will give you a taster of some really useful tools that technology has made available to small businesses. He will cover:
1. Cloud accounting systems – the benefits
2. Extending the benefits with plug-in apps
3. New ways of raising finance from your invoices
4. Customer payment systems – the fast changing market
Office applications and paperless.
