Bagnall Wellness RCGP Accredited Conference

Lifestyle and Diabetes – How Closely are they Related?

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing threats to the health of the modern human. It is estimated that over 4 million people (one in 16) people in the UK are potentially unknowingly living with, or in severe danger of developing, Type 2 diabetes, and that one in 10 people in the UK are diabetic. Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune rather than lifestyle related condition, affects around 400,000 people in the UK.

With all the complications that this life-changing condition can lead to, from nerve and ocular damage to potentially seizures and even death, it is more vital than ever for us to be aware of our own culpability in the prevalence of this growing epidemic.

Bagnall Wellness is hosting its third RCGP accredited Lifestyle Conference to raise awareness of the importance of lifestyle in diabetes prevention, management and reversal, demonstrate why an increasing number of medical professionals now recognize that a healthy lifestyle is a universally available and powerful anti-diabetes intervention, and build awareness and understanding of the relationship between lifestyle and diabetes and how to reduce your risk.

The Conference is open to the general public who are interested in this important subject as well as medical professionals and complementary practitioners.

The day will include inspiring and educational talks by experts in their field, a healthy lunch and refreshments. There will also be opportunities to experience doctor-led meditation and mindfulness classes.

Our key speakers will be medical professionals from general practice, oncology and psychology. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Conrad Jarrett (Diabetes UK Aylesbury branch, patient advocate, Type 1 diabetic)

  • Dr Ellen Fallows (GP lead for Diabetes, Oxfordshire, Regional Director British Society for Lifestyle Medicine)

  • Holly Miles (CNHC Registered Nutritional Therapist and Registered Nutritionist MBANT, director Bagnall Wellness)

  • Dr Jo Lee (GP and psychotherapist, co-founder Live Your Life After Cancer)

  • Dr Kathy Hoffman (GP lead for Diabetes, Buckinghamshire)

  • Professor Rob Thomas (Consultant Oncologist, Senior Clinical Tutor Cambridge University, Visiting Professor at the Universities of Bedfordshire and Coventry)

  • Tim Henshaw (Diabetes UK Aylesbury branch, patient advocate, Type 2 diabetic)
