Course information - RCHM - Treating Anxiety And Depression With Chinese Herbal Medicine

This lecture will discuss various strategies that may be used in these different stages and will consider the challenges and opportunities that confront a Chinese medicine practitioner and their patient along the way.

In clinic we encounter 7 distinct stages when providing supportive treatment for people with cancer. These are: post diagnosis; pre Western medical (WM) treatment (surgery/chemo/radiotherapy); during (WM) treatment; post (WM) treatment; maintaining recovery; treating people with progressive cancer; and palliative care. In all of these stages Chinese Medicine (acupuncture, herbs, qi gong and lifestyle advice) has something of value to provide, but our care programme has to be tailor made to take into account appropriate treatment objectives and the nature of the individual we are dealing with.

Can I attend?

This course is suitable for:

  • Seminars are open to all RCHM members (all categories) and graduates of accredited herbal courses.

What will I learn ?

By the end of the session participants will:

  1. Be able to identify the changing requirements for treatment at the different stages of living with cancer.

  2. Participants will be encouraged to recognize the importance and value of Chinese medicine as a whole system intervention

  3. To explore specific herbal treatments described in case studies.

In addition it is anticipated that you will gain confidence in your practice as a result of attending the seminar/s. The RCHM aims to build up a practitioner network of nurturing peer support from the seminar series.
