Julia Scott, Chief Executive, Royal College of Occupational Therapists will join the RCOT Scottish Western Region during Occupational Therapy week 2019.

Occupational therapists will be sharing the small changes they have made to create big impacts across their services.

We invite occupational therapists to join us in Glasgow to be loud and proud about the work they do.

Lisa Greer, Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist - MacInnes Medical Centre

Innovation, Improvement and Influence: Introducing Occupational Therapy to Primary Care

This presentation will discuss the development of an occupational therapy test of change within primary care in Lanarkshire. It will describe factors in the test’s success, challenges experienced and lessons learned. It will share the project’s key outcomes to date and its plans for future development. Discussion around the opportunities available for occupational therapy in this exciting new area of practice will be welcomed.

Julie McKelvie, Occupational Therapy Mental Health Advisor (Adult)/MH - Gartnavel Royal Hospital

Supporting people back to remain in, return to or obtain work - a key function of occupational therapy

Within our mental health services in GGC, occupational therapy has developed a training programme for OT staff in the AHP Fitness for Work Report (now renamed AHP Health & Work Report). To date around 100 occupational therapists across adult community mental health teams, in-patient services, addictions services and specialist services have been trained. The presentation will describe the process and the impact and outcomes for service users.

Rachel Hassan, rotational occupational therapist in Greater Glasgow and Clyde (secondment in Burns and Plastics)

Developments in Burns and Plastics Occupational Therapy - A Recent Case Study. A recent case study of a patient who received bilateral hand transplant which will highlight occupational therapy developments in assessment, documentation and outcome measures.

The RCOT Scottish Western Region Committee will also be holding the Region's Annual Review Meeting during this event.

Members who are not able to attend on the day can participate by Video conference. Please book a VC ticket and further joining instructions will be given. Please note access to NHS Scotland National VC Conference Service is required to participate.
