About this Event
Come and join Brigitte Hoare (Occupational Therapist) as she shares her knowledge and experience of working with people who hoard.
By the end of the session you will have an understanding of:
- The history of hoarding
- The definition of obsessive compulsive hoarding and hoarding disorder
- The risks associated with hoarding
- The difference between a collector and someone who has hoarding difficulties
- Why some people hoard
- How occupational identity links with a person's hoarded possessions, in relation to meaningful occupation
- The barriers to change in relation to people who have hoarding difficulties, including current legislation
The networking event starts at 6pm, with the hoarding presentation starting at 6.30pm.
The event is open to both RCOT members and non-members, along with anyone else who is interested in this topic.
