Join our Museum Late to discover 500 years of book collecting at the RCP in our new exhibition and create book-themed festive decorations!
Built from generous donations of books and money, the RCP library it reflects the interests and expertise of RCP members and fellows across the centuries. The story of the doctors’ library is one of curiosity, commitment and exploration. It is also one of exploitation, neglect, rescue and survival. Discover the surprising treasures of the RCP Heritage Library with rare books librarian Katie Birkwood and explore how 500 years of book-collecting have built a wondrous, enduring library like no other.
A free curator’s tour exploring these tales within exhibition ‘A body of knowledge’ will run at 6pm and 7pm.
Alongside the exhibition tours our craft café will be open for festive crafts. Create beautiful decorations inspired by the fabric and content of the books in our library to decorate your home. Or make a small gift such as a book mark or card using simple printing and cutting techniques and the array of patterns, images and designs held within our books.
Free entry, donations welcome.
The wider museum will also be open late that evening including the Treasures Room, portrait collections, anatomical tables and Censors Room.
The Regent’s Perk café will be open for free tea and coffee.
