You are warmly invited to join us for RCVS Fellowship Day, to be held on Thursday, 27 November 2025 from 9:15am in the prestigious surroundings of One Great George Street, London.

This promises to be a joyful event with opportunities for Fellows to meet and exchange their views and ideas.

We will also be welcoming and celebrating the achievements of the new Fellows awarded their Fellowships this year.

About the Fellowship

Launched in April 2016, the aim of the new Fellowship initiative is to advance and develop clinical and professional standards by providing a resource of independent knowledge for the benefit of the veterinary profession .

The criteria for achieving Fellowship include sustained contribution to scholarship; producing a body of creative work that has been disseminated to others; indisputable advancement of their subject; providing leadership to the profession; and, advancement of the public understanding of the profession.

Programme

  • The day will begin with registration from 9:15am. Formal proceedings will start at 9:50am.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided and the day will close with a networking drinks reception from 4:45pm.

Please note that the agenda for the day is split into two parts of the day; the afternoon is largely intended for Fellows and veterinary professionals to participate in the discussions, while the morning session (including lunch) is open to all.

If you plan to attend in the afternoon only, please arrive and register no later than 14:00.

Keynote Speaker

This year, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Matthew Baylis , a leading UK scientist working in the area of One Health, climate change impacts on health, and vector-borne diseases, focussing mainly on Africa and UK/Europe.crises.

Matthew will be giving a talk titled, Future threats: how vector-borne diseases of animals are responding to a rapidly changing world

Workshops:

Attendees can choose between two dynamic panel workshops, each offering a great opportunity to discuss crucial topics. Please note this is for veterinary professionals only and is recognised as CPD.

Workshop Session One: Immediate Care, Lasting Legacy – Fellows shaping the frontline of animal emergency response

Join experts Adam Mugford, Jim Green and Neil Rae as they explore how veterinary guidance can transform outcomes in emergency situations. The session will highlight the real financial and welfare impacts when clear protocols are missing, and invite attendees to brainstorm practical Incident Cards for small animals. Attendees will also get an insight into the Fire Service Immediate Emergency concept kit, and how these tools can support Blue Light services on the frontline.

Workshop Session Two: Contagion and Control – The veterinary role in surveillance and disease response. Chaired by Christiane Glossop, this workshop will dive into the crucial role of veterinary professionals in early disease detection, surveillance, and outbreak response. Attendees will explore how vets can shape national policy and protect both animal and public health. Expect thought-provoking discussion, real-world case studies, and the chance to contribute ideas that could influence future Fellowship work.

When booking your place, please indicate which session you’d like to attend so we can ensure you’re seated in the appropriate room and provide any preparatory materials the panel may recommend. Space is limited, and sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to secure your spot early. Further details will be provided as the event approaches.

The above panels will begin after lunch.

Fellows of the Future

Following the success of the Fellows of the Future competition at previous events, we will again be inviting three veterinary students and recent graduates to contribute to the day by presenting their current or recent research projects. In addition, up to ten students will also have their research presented in digital poster format which will be shown on screens during the break periods, enabling them to discuss their research with Fellows and members in attendance.
