The RCVS team will be visiting Winchester on Thursday 24 November, for RCVS Question Time.
The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn from 6.30pm, it is free to attend and could count for up to three hours continuing professional development.
Question Time provides an opportunity for veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and other members of the practice team to directly question senior figures at the RCVS on a range of subjects.
We will be splitting the first half of the meeting into two streams:
Stream 1: General Q&A session
Stream 2: The future of veterinary nursing: Improving Schedule 3 (see below).
The groups will then come together for the second half of the meeting, to discuss topics that affect the whole team.
Possible topics for discussion include:
- Alternative dispute resolution
- Vet Futures
- VN Futures
- Schedule 3 review
- Mind Matters Initiative
- Practice Standards Scheme
The evening will begin with a buffet supper at 6:30pm with the discussion, chaired by RCVS President Dr Chris Tufnell beginning at 7:15pm and finishing at approximately 10pm.
Please feel free to bring along any colleagues, veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses or practice managers who might find the evening of interest - just remember to register their details on the following pages.
Schedule 3 Stream
Are you a veterinary surgeon who delegates medical treatment or acts of minor veterinary surgery to veterinary nurses? If not, why not?
Are you a registered veterinary nurse who undertakes medical treatment or minor acts of veterinary surgery? If not, why not?
What should RVNs be allowed to do that they can’t do currently? Should the RCVS improve its guidance on Schedule 3?
This is your opportunity to provide feedback and ideas on how to improve Schedule 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act – which allows some aspects of veterinary work to be delegated to RVNs - to strengthen the veterinary nursing profession and the veterinary team as a whole. Come and let us know!
