As part of Heritage Open Days, we will be at Malmaison Reading stitching on a contemporary reworking of a panel for the Reading Bayeux Tapestry. Reading Museum's faithful replica of the Bayeux Tapestry is 70 metres long. It was made by 35 skilled Victorian women embroiderers in 1885 and depicts the events leading up and includes to the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The new panel has many contemporary views of Reading alongside items of historical significance. Visitors are invited to join us to add to the panel using the traditional stitches (guidance will be given).

Malmaison Reading has significant historical importance. Completed in 1844, and likely to have been designed by Isambard Kingdon Brunel the hotel still celebrates it’s railway heritage through it’s room names to styling.

As part of Heritage Open Days, Malmaison will be offering a special afternoon tea (must be prebooked)
The event is free and is suitable for all.

To make your day even more special, why don’t you book a delicious Heritage afternoon tea buffet. Must be pre-booked directly at Malmaison, quoting this workshop and full payment taken at time of booking.

For detais of booking the afternoon tea, please contact: Imogen Parker
