This interactive online workshop explores ways libraries can keep themselves relevant to today's customers.
About this event
Even before COVID libraries faced the dual problem of reduced funding, but also, more worryingly, reduced usage. Our readers are getting older, using online sources of information or using their time in other ways. This has lead to a decline in the use, and possibly relevance, of libraries.
There are many innovative ways in which modern libraries can make themselves relevant. In this session we will look at what these are and which situations they best suit. We will also look at ‘selling’ the new or changed services to our readers to increase usage of library services.
No advance preparation needed, and you don’t need to take notes as a writeup will be provided after the workshop.
Ash Charlton has delivered very successful and enjoyable skills-based courses and facilitated sessions for over 20 years. He has extensive experience with academic, public and national libraries as well as charities, international NGOs and the UN. The Sunday Times described his style as ‘participatory, fun and respectful’.
