Event description
FLOAT was first opened on the 31st October 2020 but had to close because of the new lock down rules but now has been rescheduled

About this Event

The opening day saw over 80 people in 5 sessions attend and the feed back was fantastic.

To conceive and create the Float exhibition takes a creative magician such as Bill Jackson Julie C

I found the film enthralling, quite meditative, even spiritual, a grand piece of work Peter S

It is an incredible show Stephanie R

Just brilliant. Mesmerising, calming, thought-provoking Hilary G

FLOAT was created during the forced isolation of the Covid -19 lockdown when the issues of being out of control of one’s own daily life and the compulsion to maintain control was, and is, a daily struggle.

The black and white work is presented as an installation with large scale projected moving images for an extended shared experience, along with 25 small scale, wall mounted, tablets for individual viewing in the iconic Malt Room Gallery.

The exhibition is taking bookings in advance, with 2 hour windows for viewing available from 10am – 4pm. Each window has only 20 people, giving space and time for the viewer to dwell and immerse themselves in the shapes, forms and movement of the cloudscape and consider their own relationship with the here and now.

Bill Jackson explains, ‘FLOAT is a new iteration of my work considering time & space through still, moving images, and soundscapes. My line of vision during the pandemic shifted from eye level to the open skies and the constant movement of clouds. The distant view, towards the horizon and upwards to space, transports us from the close detail of real danger and uncertainty to beauty and a sense of freedom. The physical and emotional connection with the natural world brought a new sense of what it’s like to be a creative individual.’

Please note that masks are mandatory

The exhibition runs from Thursday 10th December to Saturday 19th December with two sessions 10am – 12pm and 12pm- 2pm.
