Reach The Peaks - Stanage & Redmires Loop

🗓️ Date: Sunday 29th June

📍Start Location: Redmires Plantation Car Park, S10 4QZ

📏 Length: 7.2km / 4.5 miles (+/-2.5 hours)

Come join us for a morning hike at Reach The Peaks - Stanage & Redmires Loop! Lace up your hiking boots and come with us for a lap across the moors and plantations at Redmires before heading around to Stanage Edge, Stanage Pole & back down to Redmires Reservoirs on the Long Causeway.

Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just looking for an enjoyable walk as a beginner, this event is perfect for all skill levels. Enjoy fantastic views, fresh air, and the company of fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Don't miss out on this opportunity to reach new heights and make lasting memories.

We will start from Redmires Plantation Car Park at 8:45 am and head down past Quarry Hill and over towards the starting point of the Redmires Conduit before heading across the moorland to Stanage Edge and the Long Causeway.

We will then follow the Long Causeway around to the Stanage Pole and back down to the top of Redmires Reservoires and then take a short walk along the reservoir back to the car park.

Full route information is available on Komoot: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2296587803

The walk overall should take around 2.5 hours, but to factor in sightseeing, differing fitness levels, and just taking in the surroundings, we have scheduled this to take around 3 hours.

🚗 🚎 The car park is located near the end of Redmires Road on the North West corner of the reservoirs. There is also street parking along the road, but we will be meeting and starting from the main car park. The 51 bus service runs to the Lodge Moor Terminus which is nearby but does require a walk along Redmires Road to get to the car park.

💧☀️ Please remember to bring water of some form, with the weather now becoming warmer!

🥾 We also recommend good sturdy walking boots or shoes due to some of the terrain this route covers

☎️ If there are any issues on the day (like you are running late or sturggling to find us) then please call Tom on 07860597733

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking?

Yes, a free car park is the designated starting point but it isn't particularly large. Street parking is available further along the road as an alternative.

Is there public transport options?

Yes. The 51 bus from Sheffield Interchange stops near by at the Lodge Moor terminus but does then involve a walk to the meeting point.

Do I need any equipment or supplies?

We recommend decent-quality walking boots or shoes. It's also sensible to bring weather-appropriate clothing & maybe a windbreaker or raincoat in a small backpack, we do live in England after all! Lastly, a water bottle of some kind. Hydration is really important, even on shorter walks like this

Can I see the route in advance?

Yes. We use a free tool called Komoot to plan our walks and this one is available on there. Just sign up using the app or the website and view the walk on the following link: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2296587803
