Event description

Description

Fawzia Kane was born in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago. Storytelling is still a very strong tradition in Trinidad and Tobago, with set orders and rhythms in the narrative, and this is a feature she tries to instil in her poems. Fawzi’s books include Tantie Diablesse and Houses of the Dead.

Derrick Porter was born in 1938 in the East End of London. He grew up playing on the bomb sites of Hoxton. He started writing at the age of 13, in a prefab in Vince Street. He has been published in many poetry magazines and the Poetry School Anthologies This Little Stretch of Life and I am Twenty People. Derrick’s first collection Voices of Hoxton was published 2015.
