About This Event

· Full day

Doors open at 8:30am to start promptly at 09:00am. The day is based on a real paediatric case and flows through an ABCDE approach to preparation for transfer, it is aimed at 3RD year paediatric student nurses/ODP, junior paediatric nurse, ODP and any allied professional involved in stabilisation and transfer of Paediatric patients that feel they would benefit from this day.

The day is taught by experts with experience in transferring paediatric patients. There will be lots of fun interactive workshops to help you learn in an engaging way.

Lunch will be provided, this will consist of a sandwich, and a sweet, this’ can be subject to change. If you do not want the lunch provided, you are welcome to take a short walk down to Newcastle centre for food or access the food outlets at The Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH).

What to bring and Wear

· Wear loose comfortable clothes

· bring a water bottle

· note pad and pen

Public Transport

By Air Approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Newcastle International Airport.

By Metro The closest station to the Freeman is South Gosforth and is approximately 10 minutes’ walk. Alternatively use Four Lane Ends and bus interchange. Newcastle General is not served by a Metro Station.

By Train Newcastle Central Station is 5 - 10 mins journey in a taxi.

By Bus Interchange at Haymarket for most local services

Directions

The education centre is located off queen Victoria Road, if you head towards the main entrance for GNCH, the education centre is on the left, before the bridge joining Victoria wing to GNCH.

Parking

There is parking on site, it is a multi-story in Claremont, in busier times it can be tricky to get space. You can also park at the old General hospital site (CAV) off Westgate Road, NE4 6BE and get the 47 Arriva bus over you will need to show your work ID badge. It is also a short walk of around 20mins. Another option is Newcastle United, and a short walk through Leazes Park, or a further car park on Clermont Road. All the car parks will require payment of varying price.

READI Foundation- The day is based on a real paediatric case and flows through an ABCDE approach to preparation for transfer. It is aimed at 3RD year/junior paediatric student nurses, ODPs and other allied health professional who feel that they would benefit from this level of training.

READI Intermediate-This day is to help prepare the multi-disciplinary team in the stabilisation and preparation for transfer of critically sick children. The day is taught by clinicians with experience in stabilisation and transfer of paediatric patients.

READI Anaesthetics -This day is designed around converting adult intensive care knowledge for use in the stabilisation and preparation for transfer of critically sick children.
