If you are not a client, a fee of £75+VAT    is payable for half day seminars and    £150+VAT for full day training seminars.

Event Details

This seminar will enable Trustees and non-financial staff to better understand the key principles of financial management. During the seminar we will focus on developing your skills to read a set of accounts in order to understand the financial position of an organisation. 

The aim of the session is to improve your confidence when reading financial information whether management or statutory accounts. We will discuss key accounting principles, key terminology and provide useful resources for future reference.

Introduction
We will cover the objectives for the session and offer a chance for participants to raise initial questions.

Statutory accounts – the financial picture published externally
During the first session we will:
    ●  examine the key components of a set of statutory accounts
    ●  look at the relationship between statement of financial activities
    (income & expenditure account) and the balance sheet
    ●  provide an overview of key accounting principles and
    terminology commonly used
We will also refer to thresholds for external assurance, audit and independent examinations and explain what level of comfort this can give.

Statutory accounts – continued
Incorporating an exercise which takes you through a set of accounts to reach a conclusion on the organisation’s financial health. We will also touch on reserves policies and going concern.

We will provide an overview of the information required for good internal financial management and the key questions you should be asking

By rail
The nearest stations are Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street – all of which are within a few minutes walking distance of the venue.

By road
Exit the M6 at Junction 6, exit towards the A38 (M) / Birmingham (Cen). Merge onto A5127 / Aston Expressway. Take the exit towards Lancaster Circus Queensway, City Centre. At Lancaster Circus Queensway, take the 1st exit on to James Watt Queensway. Take the first right at Newton Street, turn left onto Dalton Street. The venue is located on Corporation Street, adjacent to Tesco Express.

Parking
The nearest parking facilities are Birmingham Londonderry House NCP (B4 7LX) and Birmingham High Street NCP (B4 7LN) – both of which are less than 5 minutes walk from the venue, and have agreed reduced parking rates.
