Event description

Description

Transforming the reluctant reader. Helping children to read for enjoyment and understanding.

Enjoying books is a vital part of becoming a successful reader. Our course explores how children learn to read and identifies strategies to engage children in the process of reading.

Delivered by Ruth Baker- Leask (Chair of the National Association for Advisers of English), this course will equip delegates with the skills that underpin reading comprehension. Delegates also examine what makes a high-quality text and discuss ideas to support understanding of unfamiliar words in context.

This courses covers:

  • Teaching strategies based on lessons learned from the end of key stage assessment frameworks
  • Practical ideas to improve reading skills with a focus on inference and vocabulary development
  • New and effective approaches to developing a holistic reading curriculum which ensures children make great progress and have a life-long love of reading
  • Free resources to use instantly in the classroom

The cost of this course is £150 (plus VAT and booking fee). We are currently offering a 20% discount for "Early Bird" bookings (offer ends 30th September).
