Event description

Description

Lectio Divina is a practice of reading scripture in a Spirit-led attentive way: listening to the text as it is read aloud, followed by a time of silence out of which participants share a word or phrase which resonates with them or which attracts their attention. The group is then drawn into a reflective conversation about what God might be saying to us and our human condition. In this interactive session, Julie will facilitate a reflective engagement with texts drawing scripture into conversation with poetry and literature using Lectio Divina. How might such connections shape our discipleship and witness?

About the leader:

Canon Dr Julie Gittoes is a Residentiary Canon (Education) at Guildford Cathedral. She teaches and writes on Christian theology, particularly the nature of the church, marriage and the work of Evelyn Underhill; and she is researching a project on singleness and loneliness. Her other interests include art, politics and culture.
