Friendly weekly reading group for people who'd like to develop confidence in reading

Reading Together - free weekly sessions for people aged 19+

Mondays - 10am-11.30am in the Parish Room at St David's Church

Come and join our friendly weekly reading group. It's not a book club - it’s a gentle space where we read together and enjoy stories and magazine articles at an easy pace. You don’t need to be a confident reader to take part. Everyone is welcome – including people who are just starting out, or who don’t read on their own yet. Each week we will:

  • Read short pieces together and listen to each other
  • Enjoy free tea and coffee in a relaxed setting
  • Take a break with fun puzzles and brain teasers
  • Keep a simple reading diary if you’d like to

The aim is to build confidence in reading, share ideas, and make new connections. Most of all, it’s about enjoying reading together in a warm and supportive group.

You can come along every week, or just when you want. It's up to you!

Here's what people who are coming along are saying:

'really enjoyed myself!
'wonderful session to get out and about'
'it's a safe space where I can forget about my problems'

Further Support:

We’re working with Read Easy to help people who want support with reading. If you find reading hard, we can introduce you to a friendly volunteer coach who will help you one-to-one. Read Easy's aim is that every adult who wants to learn to read, can. Their volunteer service is a free, confidential, one-to-one coaching offer. Details in the link below:
