The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will become law in the UK from 25 May 2018. While that might sound a long way away, it’s a big piece of legislation that replaces or updates some rules we’ve all been using for years, and it comes on top of the already changing landscape of changing fundraising regulations.
As a result, it’s something we need to know about and prepare for – there will be areas you need to review across your whole organisation, and for fundraising in particular. How we ask supporters for permission to communicate with them, how we record it, what data we hold, where and how, and then how we use it - all these things come into play. As well as the dreaded 'opt in or opt out' decision, of course.
In ready, set, GDPR we’ll take a look at the changes that GDPR will bring and what we need to plan for now to be ready for May 2018.

Join Purple Vision and hear from Dawn Varley, a Purple Vision associate who specialises in fundraising and data challenges for charities. Dawn’s hands on expertise and strategic experience enable her to deliver powerful, feasible and above all practical advice. Formerly a full-time Purple Vison employee, and long-time non-profit sector employee (including stints at League Against Cruel Sports, Battersea Cats and Dogs Home and Christian Aid), Dawn is a self-professed data devotee and loves to help organisations with challenges such as GDPR.
She'll be joined by Purple Vision's CEO Steve Thomas as host and compere.
