This event is to support talented individuals to prepare to apply for UK-based Initial Teacher Training (ITT). Participants will be guided through each step of the ITT recruitment process; writing personal statements, delivering presentations, preparing for literacy and numeracy skills tests, and succeeding at interview. They will also reflect on a range of themes and issues relating to the UK context of education, including those relating to assessment and the new National Curriculum. This event is open to anyone with a professional interest in education, and is particularly targeted at those who want to progress into teaching from their existing role, to make that next step in their career (eg: teaching assistants, children’s social care professionals, youth workers). This course is also suitable for those who have qualified as a teacher outside of the European Union, who are keen to explore entry routes into a UK classroom. Learning outcomes To understand various routes into teaching in the UK (eg: School Direct salaried and non-salaried, Postgraduate Certificate in Education) To know personal strengths and areas of development in relation to readiness for teaching, in order to plan for next steps around career progression. To identify transferable skills from previous and on-going experience, which will support a career in teaching. To have more confidence around the application process for initial teacher training, and the success criteria for gaining a place on an ITT programme.
