Description

Real and Local Voices have organised a community safety event to mark UN Peace Day on the 21st September. It will cover a range of issues ranging from fire safety, acid attacks, hate crime and personal safety, whilst considering how communities across Tower Hamlets can work together to create a greater sense of peace within the borough.


The agenda for the day is as follows:

10am Registration, Tea and Coffee and Stalls

10.30am - 12.00pm Panel discussion with Chief Inspector Martin Kirby (Metropolitan Police Service), Menara Ahmed (Tower Hamlets Council No Place for Hate Campaign), Holly Matthews (Tower Hamlets Victim Support), Mike Smith (Real DPO) and Zakaria Hussain (Muslim Aid) Chaired by Rev. Alan Green (Chair of Tower Hamlets No Place for Hate Forum)

Topic: ‘How do we build community cohesion in Tower Hamlets?'

12.00pm - 1pm Lunch and Stalls

1pm - 2pm Presentations from Shaun Coltress (London Fire Brigade), PC Robert Sewell (Tower Hamlets Safer Transport Team and Henrietta Spalding (Changing Faces)

2pm - 2.15 pm Break

2.15pm - 3.15pm Disability Hate Crime Workshop and Victim Support Workshop

3.15pm - 3.30pm Close


Stalls from Tower Hamlets Homes, Disability Sports Coach, GoTrain, LocalLink, Local Voices, Tower Hamlets Council, Tower Hamlets Police, the Idea Store and Tower Hamlets Victim Support.
