About Gulam Fatima

Gulam’s professional journey is a powerful story of transformation, resilience, and full-circle leadership. She began her career in 1999 as an apprentice at her local college—an experience that would not only launch her into the world of finance but eventually bring her back as a senior leader.

After developing her skills through a decade of financial roles within the local authority sector (2004–2014), Gulam returned to the organisation that first gave her a start. Today, she serves as Chief Financial Officer of the Bedford College Group, where she leads with strategic vision and a deep personal connection to the college’s mission.

Bedford College Group is one of the largest and most respected further education providers in the UK, serving thousands of learners across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. The Group is committed to transforming lives and supporting communities through high-quality education, skills development, and inclusive learning environments.

Gulam remains a passionate advocate for the life-changing power of education—because she’s experienced it herself. Her story is one of discipline, opportunity, and purposeful leadership, and she now works to ensure others have the same chance to succeed.

Outside of her role at the College Group, Gulam also gives back as a school governor at two local schools and enjoys spending time with her family.
