In this talk, we discuss what it might mean to keep thinking with Doreen Massey today. As a profoundly influential geographer based at the Open University for many decades, our aim is not a retrospective focused on Massey as an individual academic figure. Rather, informed by the ongoing Stories-so-far: the Doreen Massey archive project, we will explore a series of themes around the educative, creative and political possibilities for translating Massey’s archival materials to pose new questions about the troubles of the present. Confronting the methodological and political challenges of working with the archives of a thoroughly public intellectual, we sketch out different openings for fostering critical and creative dialogues which stretch well beyond the narrow confines of academia in order to help interpret and intervene in this conjuncture.
