About this event
Re:Builders is a six-month hands-on learning programme for built environment workers from small to medium sized businesses in the West Midlands who want to develop regenerative construction methods to meet the urgent need to retrofit our homes, streets, and neighbourhoods.
This programme will be an opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge in the retrofit space, but also to connect with CIVIC SQUARE's upcoming retrofit work in the neighbourhood and access to opportunities to work with us on a range of building projects in coming years.
On September 11th and 12th, we will be opening up some of the key sites of the Re:Builders Programme as part of an invitation for anyone in the region to visit, learn more, and potentially join the next cohort of Re:Builders.

This programme might be for you if:
- You are actively interested in the responsibility we have to repair, improve, and maintain our existing built environment through processes of retrofit as well as unpacking the social, civic, and governance models that will be required to enable this work.
- You are ready to move beyond sustainability as ‘doing less harm to the environment’ towards starting to practice construction skills that can restore and regenerate the health of our planet and ecologies.
- You are actively looking for opportunities and support to transform and future-proof your construction business practices over the coming year by embedding regenerative design and circular economic principles.
- You are seeking to learn more about new and emerging possibilities for construction presented by retrofit and built environment climate adaptation.
- You are a hands-on learner who values the space to unpack connected ideas and theoretical frameworks with your peers in the industry.
- You are instinctively collaborative and understand that cooperation in the construction industry is key to future success as opposed to disconnected and siloed practices.
- You are open to new ways of working both within your team and alongside clients, policymakers, and fellow professionals.
- You believe that building sites can act as a site of education and imagination for your team and wider members of the community.
- You believe the construction industry can change and want to be at the forefront of transitions towards a regenerative built environment.
- You are willing to share your learnings in your organisation, with partners, or wider industry connections.
- You recognise the benefits of embedding regenerative skills and practices as fundamental to both the long-term health of your business and of the planet - and are ready to take steps towards this.Find out more about the programme at bit.ly/RebuildersWMRetrofit
