The Recently Qualified Teacher (RQT) Programme aims to develop participants’ pedagogical skills as well as their leadership skills. In addition to focused key sessions, participants will also develop a network of peer support and establish professional relationships with colleagues from other schools.

Who this course is for:

Any teacher who is currently in their second or third year in teaching is welcome to participate.

What the programme involves:

The Programme is to run over three half-day and three twilight sessions from January to June 2017. The next session will be:

Session 6 - Developing Leadership Skills

Vice Principal: Ethos, Training & Teaching School, Ebor Teaching School Alliance - Julie Caddell and Academy Specialist Yvonne Methley

14 June - 1-4.30pm

  • Exploring opportunities to develop leadership skills
  • Leadership styles and career developments

Session 2 - Embedding and further developing practice - sustaining excellent teaching and pupil progress

  • Explore key principles underpinning good practice in the classroom to meet the needs of a range of learners in an engaging and creative way
  • Plan an opportunity to team teach with an academy specialist with a key focus, such as active and collaborative learning
