Tuk Tam UK is proud to announce the return of the Recipes for Success in London. The first event, hosted in the trendy Rainmaking Loft in St. Katherine's Docks gathered over 60 people, who got to know the salt and pepper of Max Gurvits' success.

The second edition of the Recipes for Success will take place on the 9th of May to kickstart a dynamic summer inspired by the entrepreneurial and adventurous spirit of our second speaker, Ilian Iliev. Ilian will expand on our topics of Business, Bulgaria and Success Beyond Borders by talking about growing up in South Africa and Mozambique (and maybe confessing he shook hands with Nelson Mandela?) where he ran a family business in the electrical industry. Ilian is currently completing a PhD from Judge Business School, Cambridge University and currently leading Eco Machines Incubator, an early stage VC accelerator in the energy and cleantech industry.

About the speaker:

Prior to EcoMachines Incubator, Ilian was CEO and co-founder of CambridgeIP Ltd, a leading technology intelligence and IP strategy company. In that role, he led multiple technology and IP strategy engagements with corporate, SME and investor clients around the world in a range of sectors including energy, healthcare and telecoms. Before CambridgeIP, Ilian provided strategy consultancy to blue chip clients and governments; and co-founded DiagnovIS, an award-winning medtech company specialising in automated microscopy for the diagnosis of malaria and other neglected diseases. Prior to the UK he co-founded a family business in the electrical industry in South Africa and Mozambique.

He is a regular speaker and has published widely in both academic and business media on the topics of innovation finance, innovation, entrepreneurship, and innovation policy. He has worked with the likes of World Intellectual Property Office, International Renewable Energy Agency, UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and national governments on innovation finance and innovation policy. He is an Associate Fellow at Chatham House and at the Center for Study of Democracy (Bulgaria).

Ilian has a Master’s in Economics and Bachelor’s in Politics, Economics and International Relations from Wits University (South Africa). His PhD research at Judge Business School, Cambridge University is focused on Venture Capital models in emerging economies.

He was born in Bulgaria, grew up in Mozambique and South Africa, and has been in the UK since 2001.
