As the international community approaches the final few years of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, progress on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is happening around the world but is off track. Despite early commitments and increased global attention, progress may have even slowed. NCDs continue to account for over 70% of global deaths, with the burden disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries.

The discussion will centre around what has generated versus held back progress on NCDs, and how the global community can renew and the integration of NCDs into the health systems agenda. As the global health and development agenda evolves beyond the current SDG framework, NCDs must be recognised as a long-term development and equity priority requiring sustained and integrated action.

This event also marks the publication of a new Lancet paper on benchmarking for NCDs, authored by the NCD Countdown 2030, providing timely insights into country-level progress and comparative performance.

This event will be live streamed.
