About this event

Edinburgh Young Carers Invites You to this FREE Training Session Raising Awareness of Young Carers...

Young carers take on significant responsibilities at home, practically and/or emotionally supporting family members with physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, neurodivergence, or substance misuse issues. Despite their vital role, many young carers remain hidden and unsupported—impacting their education, wellbeing, and future opportunities.

This training session is designed for professionals in health, social care, and education who play a key role in identifying and supporting young carers. Through practical tips, real-life scenarios, and interactive discussion, participants will:

  • Understand the definition and experiences of young carers
  • Learn how to identify signs that a child or young person may be a carer
  • Explore the impact of caring responsibilities on young people’s lives
  • Gain tools and strategies to provide appropriate support and referrals
  • Understand the policies and legislation in place to support young carers, and our responsibilities within that
  • Strengthen cross-sector collaboration to improve outcomes for young carers

We look forward to seeing you there!
