Event description
Join us to find out more about how to recognise the signs of modern slavery and human trafficking, and how to respond

About this Event

More than 7,100 suspected victims of modern slavery were identified across the UK in 2018, with London the location for the highest number of suspected victims (1,477). The increase in calls to the Modern Slavery Helpline is a reflection of increased public awareness of modern slavery, yet there are likely many more victims who have not been indentifed.

Modern slavery is often a hidden crime, and victims are often too traumatised to report their exploitation, or do not realise that they are victims.

More needs to be done to give people the confidence to report their concerns.

As part of National Adult Safeguarding Week, the Lambeth Safeguarding Adults Board is hosting an event for the voluntary and community sector to raise awareness of this important issue.

This event will give participants the opportunity to learn how to spot the signs that someone may be a victim of modern slavery (which includes human trafficking, domestic servitude and forced labour) and find out more about how we can support victims.

Participants will also have space to share experiences and think about the actions their organisation can take to help protect adults at risk in Lambeth from abuse and neglect.
