A free workshop for all medical educators. AoME Recognising Teaching Excellence workshops are all about YOUR career and accomplishments.
If you are a teacher, researcher or manager who is actively involved in the education of medical students and doctors, and if you care about improving your professional practice and developing your skills as a medical educator, then this course will offer you a constructive, confidential and structured environment in which to reflect on your portfolio of achievements and help prepare you to take the next steps in your career.
The primary purpose is to introduce you to reflective, evidence-based practice as a medical educator and to help you take control of and plan your own continuing professional development. The workshop will give you a thorough understanding of the Professional Standards for Medical Educators and enable you to start mapping your skills and achievements against them. If you are thinking of applying for Membership or Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Educators as part of your personal development, or are preparing for revalidation and recognition as a medical educator or trainer, it will probably be of help to you.
The workshop will be facilitated by Professor Andy Grant of Swansea University College of Medicine, who is a Council member and Fellow of the Academy.
The course content covers:
- Standards and accreditation for medical education professionals;
- Definitions of educational scholarship;
- Reflective and descriptive approaches to professional writing;
- Review of the Values and Domains of the Professional Standards for Medical Educators;
- The Academy of Medical Educators’ Recognition Scheme.
