Recognising Teaching Excellence - Southampton

A workshop for all medical educators. AoME Recognising Teaching Excellence workshops are all about YOUR career and accomplishments.
If you are a teacher, researcher or manager who is actively involved in the education of medical students and doctors, and if you care about improving your professional practice and developing your skills as a medical educator, then this course will offer you a constructive, confidential and structured environment in which to reflect on your portfolio of achievements and help prepare you to take the next steps in your career.
The workshop will give you a thorough understanding of the Professional Standards for Medical Educators and enable you to start mapping your skills and achievements against them. The workshop will be facilitated by Professor Andrew Grant, Dean of Medical Education at Swansea University College of Medicine, and Dr Louise Dubras,
Director of BM5 programme at University of Southampton Medical School.
The course content covers:
- Standards and accreditation for medical education professionals;
- Definitions of educational scholarship;
- Reflective and descriptive approaches to professional writing;
- Review of the Values and Domains of the Professional Standards for Medical Educators;
- The Academy of Medical Educators’ Recognition Scheme.
