Recognition and Management of Acutely ill Children in Primary Care -

Wednesday 27th September 2017, 1330 - 1730 (lunch from 1300)


Despite children and young people making up to 40% of primary care workload, around 40% of GP trainees do not have paediatric placements during their training. This is one of the reasons for this training initiative.

Do you value the importance of robust clinical evidence in identifying and efficiently managing anacutely ill child/young person?

Are you open to learning different ways of ensuring clinical safety and reducing dependancy on your health service?

This 4 hour study day of a rich and practical content that can have a significant benefit for you and your patients. During this high impact and content rich session, an experienced clinical trainer who has worked for around 10 years in the paediatric arena will share his experiences that have proven to make a difference to clinical outcomes.

During this 4 hour session, we will explore:

  • Clinical reasoning techniques for common presenting problems in primary care, based on many interactive clinical scenarios, pictures and videos.

  • Effective management of common clinical issues and recognising some important uncommon presentations of common illnesses.

  • Reacting to particular clinical scenarios and the level of urgency required.

  • Ensuring that our safety netting messages are specific and really understood.

  • Developing and maintaining trust in patients with a high level of confidence in clinical decision making.

  • Ultimately, this session will provide you with enhanced paediatric clinical skills to enable you to

  • ensure success in your day to day clinical management approaches.
