‘Inspiring students in RE: excellent thinking, creativity and writing for 11-16s’
This is a professional learning event for Teachers of RE in Northern Ireland. Following two successful RE TeachMeets at QUB, REConnect is once again bringing together RE teachers from schools across Northern Ireland. On this occasion we are partnering with REToday Services to offer a professional development workshop on Inspiring students in RE: excellent thinking, creativity and writing for 11-16s. There will be a particular focus on using sacred texts to improve pupils’ speaking, listening and writing in RE.
The training will be provided by Lat Blaylock. Lat is editor of RE Today Magazine and has written many resources published by RE Today, including Picturing Easter, Tackling Tough Questions, Picturing Jesus and Spiritual Engagement, a folder of ideas for 16-19 RE days. He taught RE, Humanities and PSHE in Leicester for 11 years.
In addition, we are delighted to have a new location for this event; Malone Integrated College in South Belfast have kindly offered to host us. The College is near the M1 and easily accessible by road and rail (see map).
