Event description

Description

Do you hear the call of nature and would like to learn about the healing properties of our local plants?

Come and join us on a journey through the alluring greens of Pollok Park. We will be meeting and getting to know common plants by engaging our intuition and our senses as well as sharing our knowledge on the identification and medicinal properties of plants.

As a zoologist, with a passion for nature and adventure, Lauren has travelled to India, Trinidad, Guatemala, Ecuador and Bulgaria to study local wildlife and traditional crafts.

Volunteering herself in the past two years as a Science Leader for British Exploring Society, Lauren helped young people engage with the amazing biodiversity of the Canadian Yukon wilderness and the high-altitude mountain regions of the Ladakh Himalayas.

Recently, Lauren began her diploma in Permaculture Design and has a natural affinity and love for herbalism after she became fascinated, in particular, with the amazing medicinal properties of plants underfoot and all around.

Originally from Eastern France, CLAIRE has been working as a Senior Project Officer with TCV for two years supporting local groups to reconnect with nature. With her academic background in Zoology, Claire’s expertise also includes 15 years of environmental surveys and ranger positions for various wildlife organisations in remote parts of Scotland and abroad.

Her relationship with plants began in her childhood well supported by a family of gardeners and foragers. Following her fondness and sound knowledge of nature, Claire is also studying holistic healing practice
