About this event

Whether you're a new residential care worker or an experienced team leader, this dynamic training will sharpen your recording and analytical skills to meet regulatory expectations and enhance the care journeys of young people.

You’ll gain confidence in knowing what to record, why it matters, how to do it well, and where to record it. You’ll explore principles of child-focused recording, including how to involve children and young people meaningfully. We’ll unpack the role of analysis in daily recordings and tackle common challenges with practical strategies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand expectations around recording for children’s homes
  • Be clear on what should be recorded, why, how and where
  • Apply child-focused principles and involve young people in their own records
  • Learn what analysis looks like and how to embed it in everyday practice
  • Explore real-world challenges and solutions to accurate and purposeful recording

Let’s turn recording from a tick-box task into a powerful tool for safeguarding, reflection, and meaningful care.

Your facilitator, Eithne Staunton, known from the Free Managers Monthly meetups, has an ethos grounded in a child-first, person-centred approach. She sees behaviour as a form of communication and prioritises understanding the reasons behind it. Eithne champions compassionate, outcomes-focused practices that equip teams to respond with empathy, respect, and insight. With nearly two decades of experience as a Registered Manager and a proven track record of achieving 'Outstanding' ratings from Ofsted, Eithne is passionate about inspiring excellence in social care, supporting children, families, and those who care for them to thrive.
