Waste Water Heat Recovery for Showers (WWHRS) is a passive, demand-reduction technology that can be easily designed into buildings with showers to help reduce energy demand and CO2 emissions.

This simple, cost-effective heat exchanger technology is simple to design in, easy to install, and requires no end-user interaction or planned maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What is WWHRS?

WWHRS stands for Waste Water Heat Recovery for Showers. Also referred to as WWHR by some but this is also used in other waste water recovery areas too.

What does WWHRS do?

WWHRS saves money, energy use, and reduces carbon emissions. It does this by recovering some of the 85 to 90% of wasted heat energy that goes down the drain with every shower.

How does WWHRS work?

Recovered heat energy is used to preheat cold water that is then used by the shower and / or water heater in the property. The sue of the preheated water reduces the demand for hot water, saving energy, money and reducing emissions.
