Description

The aim of the Recovery College is to bring together experts from across the field to share best practice and current thinking and; to offer an opportunity for those working in the field to network, share experiences and offer support.

The College will focus in on a range of areas including:

  • The Criminal Justice system with a focus on prisons
  • Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs
  • NPS and festival drug testing
  • Prescription Medicines

Key note speaker: Dr Edward Day

Appointed as the Governments Drug Recovery Champion Dr Days task is to ensure the best treatment and support for those recovering from drug misuse. A clinician and academic with expertise in the field and experience in dealing directly with those who are dependent on drugs, Dr Day is well qualified for the task.

This is an opportunity to hear his thoughts on the present and the future direction of substance misuse treatment.

Speakers will include;

Michael Wheatley: Michael is a senior manager and recovery advisor working in the substance misuse and mental health team in HMPPS

Dr Soraya Mayet: Dr Mayet is a consultant psychiatrist with many years experience in the front line of substance misuse

Andy Maddison: Programme Manager Public Health England Yorkshire and Humber region. Andy has also worked as an adult and young persons’ substance misuse worker and commissioner.

The afternoon will feature breakout sessions to allow for a more focused exploration of specific areas.
