Purpose of this page:

This page is for booking train tickets only for those attending the Recovery Walk. Anyone in recovery can book these tickets, however if you have a Bus Pass, please consider using that, to let those without free transport have access to these tickets.

Getting there:

We will be meeting outside Dundee Train Station at 09:00 sharp. The Train to Stirling leaves Dundee at 09:15 and arrives at Stirling at 10:18. The event begins at Stirling Old Bridge, at 11am. The walk from Stirling Train Station to Stirling Old Bridge will take approximately 16 minutes. We will be walking as a group and taking note of names/number of people in Dundee.

Getting back:

The event will finish at 16:00. We will meet as a group outside the event at 16:05 sharp, and walking along to the Train station together (17 minute walk approximately). We would be getting the 16:39 train from Stirling Train Station, arriving back into Dundee at 17:47.

Information about the day:

Recovery Walk Scotland is the largest recovery event in Scotland and has been held in different locations across the Country since 2013. The event is comprised of three parts: Roses in the River Memorial, Recovery Walk Scotland procession through the town and a Recovery Festival and Village in King's Park, Stirling.

11 am: Roses in the Forth Ceremony (Stirling Old Bridge)*

12pm: Walk begins at Stirling Old Bridge and ends at King's Park Stirling.* (1.5 miles long)

1pm: Recovery Festival Opens in King's Park with speeches and live music

3.50pm: Closing Speech & Serenity Prayer

*Please be aware that the event will begin at Stirling Old Bridge for the Roses Ceremony and start of the procession/walk, which will then take us to King's Park, Stirling for the Recovery Festival activities.

The walk is approximately 1.5 miles through Stirling City Centre (which should take just under an hour). We ask that anyone taking part in the walk/procession is fit and able to complete the walk and that you wear appropriate footwear for walking this distance. For anyone who is unable to take part in the walk, you are welcome to gather in the Recovery Village/Festival area in King's Park to welcome the procession back.

Please be prepared for all weather conditions, including sunscreen/block, hats, hoods and possibly an umbrella tucked in for good measure. Lunch will be provided at the walk, but please bring water bottles

Alternative Transport – Bus from Dundee Bus Station

If you have a Bus Pass and are looking to get the Bus through to the Recovery Walk instead of coming on the train, please book the Bus online. There is a MegaBus from Dundee Bus Station at 08:15 on Saturday 27th of September. The M8 will arrive at Stirling Goosecroft Bus Station at 10:05.
