Recruit with Conviction in partnership with Glasgow Community Justice Authority are delighted to announce a series of development seminars for employers
These seminars have been fully funded by Glasgow CJA and are intended to support the increased recruitment and retention of employees who have previously been involved in criminal justice.
Spaces are now available for the our employer programme, attendance is restricted to staff within organisations working within the City of Glasgow and are subject to prior agreement by Recruit With Conviction and Glasgow CJA.
The Recruit With Conviction methods have been built on a sound evidence base and developed over 15 years. Recruiters, managers and supervisors in all sectors have attended workshops to provide essential competency and practical skills when dealing with conviction disclosure.
This method has been adopted by NHS Lothian and several other partners. The modules also develop wider workplace diversity by promoting effective recruitment behaviour and helps recruiters to make better decisions.
This full day workshop has 3 modules;
Myths and Misconceptions:
During this module you will reflect on your own perceptions of ex-offenders and evaluate these thoughts. By the end of the module you will understand any barriers you need to address before you can recruit with conviction.
Rights and responsibilities
During this module you will learn about the wider social and legal issues surrounding the employment of offenders, including the 1974 Rehabilitation of Offenders act, the 2013 exemptions list and PVG in practice.
Dealing with Disclosure
During this module you will better understand the obstacles individuals face when disclosing convictions. Learn best practice in how to conduct an interview professionally and how to assess the risk.
All Recruit With Conviction workshops are designed as participative learning events.
