This workshop will provide practical guidance on improving the attraction, selection, recruitment and on-boarding of neurodiverse people.

About this event

This workshop with an expert facilitator will provide practical guidance on improving the attraction, selection, recruitment and on-boarding of neurodiverse people. Dr James Schwanethal will lead this session showing how organisations can improve their processes to ensure applicants, candidates and recruits are treated fairly, making reasonable adjustments in their processes and documents. We will learn how to empower neurodiverse people to deliver good work and experience good working lives. We know we need to make improvements because a recent survey showed only 22% of autistic people work full-time or part-time. The People Management Daily update article pointed out that not modifying recruitment processes for neurodiverse people is similar to refusing to install a ramp for wheelchair users.

James will demonstrate immediate improvements which assist neurodiverse people, for example, asking attenders initially to have their cameras on at the beginning of the CPD session which can help provide better social cues than audio only interactions. We will learn how to involve neurodiverse people in improving processes. There will be examples showing how to add to existing practices, policies and procedures to be fair and effective employers and businesses.

• commercial drive: how to show savings from improved employment processes

This event forms part of a series under the running title "Taking HR into the new normal" offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists.
