Recruiting for Culture Fit
Wed 16 November 2016, 18:00 – 20:00 GMT
It has long been recognised that an organisations culture is key to both its differentiator and competitive advantage. Culture also plays a significant part in employee’s productivity, engagement and retention.
And we appreciate that it’s not just important to consider culture in terms of current employees; we need to attract and recruit potential employees who fit our organisations culture, not just for demonstrating the skills and competency to carry out the role. We generally acknowledge that there is a cost associated with increased turnover due to poor culture-fit, but there’s also a significant argument that even a successful candidate can experience failure, fatigue or frustration associated with a culture misalignment.
Which all leads us to want to recruit successfully for culture-fit but it’s often easier said than done!
This session will focus specifically on this topic and enable us to consider different aspects associated with recruiting for culture fit to share best practice and consider what might work in your organisation. It will be supported on the night by a panel representing 4 different perspectives:
Social media specialism – using social media as a tool to reach out to candidates who will fit culturally
Branding specialism – what makes an organisation distinctive, promising a particular kind of employment experience that will appeals to those people who will thrive and perform best in its culture
Industry perspective – an approach from a recruiting manager in industry
Recruitment agency specialist – proven techniques used to successfully match candidates and employers for best fit
We hope this session will help HR professionals with some of the common recruitment questions such as:
• How do we balance a culture vs competency need in our organisations?
• Is a ‘hiring for culture’ recruitment process bad for the organisation?
• How do we equip line-managers to recognise and support good recruitment practices?
• How can we use social media to help us recruit?
The evening will consist of a short presentation by each panel member sharing their top tips, followed by a facilitated Q&A session and group discussion.
Please arrive from 18.00 for networking and refreshments. The event will take place promptly at 18.30 to 20.00.
