Event Details

Deloittes' managers analysed their workforce to understand the extent to which they were improving diversity.  They found little progress had been made despite their strategic vision being clearly stated.  The case was made to change their recruitment and selection processes, firstly using academic contextualisation in which they gave more credit to people who had been educated in less prestigious schools but had still gained a good degree at university.  They agreed blind recruitment should be introduced to rule out unconscious bias, which they recognised had been influencing shortlisting processes.  Understanding digital natives meant they needed to change some processes to appeal to applicants.  Gamification and on-line tests were put in place.  They then introduced all the resourcing managers to the concept of building social capital for applicants and recruits.  This is bringing in a new workforce which will fit their future strategic business needs much more effectively.

Prior to the CPD session, the Student Awards will be presented to local CIPD students, recognising excellence in their studies and their wider contributions.

This event forms part of a series under the running title “Creating Harmony” offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists.  You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the speakers, you understand:

  • Purposeful: designing and managing effective resourcing policies
  • Agile: modifying practices to increase diversity in resourcing
  • Collaborative: learning from good practices which work
  • Expert: explaining the benefits arising from more effective diversity behaviours

Our meetings allow networking to take place before and after the main presentation.  Members considering upgrading can usually seek advice from Paula Grayson after the event.
