Event description
The new immigration system: how schools can recruit teachers who are not UK or Irish nationals

About this event

The new points-based immigration system came into force on 1 January 2021. Teachers from overseas who arrive in the UK after this date, including those from the European Economic Area and Switzerland, will need to apply for a visa. Schools who wish to recruit overseas teachers may need to become a visa sponsor.

This webinar, run jointly by the Department for Education and Home Office, will help schools understand what they need to do in order to recruit overseas teachers under the new points-based immigration system. It will include:

  • Overview of the new points-based immigration system.
  • Visa routes which teachers are most likely to use.
  • How to become a visa sponsor and responsibilities of visa sponsors.
  • Question and answer session.

To attend this online event, please complete the registration information. Details of how to join the event will then be emailed to you shortly before the date of the event.
