Event description

Would you like to work for Stockport’s Employer of the Year 2016 & Best Not for Profit Organisation 2015

Do you display our Preferred Behaviours - WINNER, AUTHENTICITY, TOGETHER, CARING and HAPPY (W.A.T.C.H.)?

Are you passionate about working in a customer focused environment and delivering exceptional service?

Do you like the idea of developing a career (or your next career) within the leisure industry?

At lifeLEISURE we have exciting Apprenticeship opportunities available across the buisness so if you answered ‘YES’ to all the above questions, we would love to meet you at our recruitment event on 23rd November* where you'll get to informally meet a member of the team and find out more about the opportunities available.

*Please note you can attend at any time during the event period, you will not be required for the whole 3 hours.

With the option to study a range of leisure-related subjects, our Apprentices work towards a qualification over 12 months (part time apprentices may have to work for 18-24 months) whilst gaining first hand leisure experience working on the front line within our centres or within a support role at our Head Office in Cheadle Hulme. This could be through working as an Administrator, Lifeguard, Receptionist, Swimming Teacher, Sports Coach, Football Assistant or a mixture of these roles (depending on centre).

The nature of our business requires candidates to be enthusiastic, responsible and hardworking individuals as day to day our Apprentices will work to support Life Leisure’s centres. Some examples of the day-to-day activities of an Apprentice include: delivering exceptional customer service, carrying out administration tasks, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, supervising swimming sessions, delivering teaching/coaching sessions, and assisting with general day to day operations.

You’ll have the option to study the following qualifications (subject to availability), and additional qualifications may be offered during the Apprenticeship where candidates perform to exceptionally high standards:

•Customer Service

•Business Administration

•Leisure Operations

•Swimming Teaching & Sports Coaching

•Sports Development & Coaching

For many of our team members an Apprenticeship has been a stepping stone towards a career in the leisure industry, going into other areas of the business and eventually management roles over time.

For apprenticeships at lifeLEISURE Avondale, Cheadle, Grand Central and Hazel Grove candidates are required to carry out lifeguard duties and will therefore need to gain the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). We can train you to achieve this qualification so don’t worry if you don't currently have it. You must be a strong swimmer to take part in the lifeguard course, including being able to do the following:

•Jump / dive into deep water

•Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds

•Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water

•Tread water for 30 seconds

•Surface dive to the floor of the pool

•Climb out unaided without ladder / steps and where the pool design permits

If you are interested in one of our apprenticeships that involves lifeguarding please bring your swimming kit with you to the recruitment day and we can check you are a strong enough swimmer to complete the course.

If you’re wondering what it’s like to work for us, here’s what some of our team members have said about us

My experience of working as a swimming teacher has been life changing, this career path followed my love for working with children. I feel constantly rewarded by the children I teach on a daily basis and proud of their success. As a member of staff I feel appreciated and as a team we continuously attend training to aid in our development enabling us to become strong and enthusiastic teachers with a passion for the continuous development of swimmers. This has led to me being the best I can following lifeLEISURE's W.A.T.C.H. principles and gaining Sentinel status!”

“The things that I enjoy about working for lifeLEISURE are, being part of an enthusiastic team and I have also been into swimming from a young age so I really enjoy working around this environment.”

“I enjoy working with lifeLEISURE to meet people and help them when needed. For example being a lifeguard or apprentice is a great starting point, you meet a lot of people and support them both in the pool and out. You learn a lot and are given a lot of help.”
