Event description
Jo Riley tells the story of the thousands of underage volunteers who signed up in the early stages of the FirstWorld War.

About this event

Many volunteers gave false names making it hard for parents to discover what had happened to their sons. Mansfield's Liberal MP, Sir Arthur Markham, worked tirelessly to stop their recruitment and return the underage soldiers home to their families.

Following the change in government guidance from 19 July, we have updated the way we operate our services.
