Event description

Description

This is the fifth in a series of walks along the Medway and Kent Coast.

This walk takes us along the coast from Reculver, where in the 1st century a Roman settlement was built, added to by a fort built in the 3rd century to defend against the Saxons. We will explore the Roman remains as well as the remains of a Saxon Monastery and the medieval towers of the church built on the site. From there we will make our way along the coast through Bishopstones Cliffs nature reserve to the seaside town of Herne Bay

The walk is about 4.5 miles in total and includes some steps

Whitstable is about 1 hour 25 minute journey from St Pancras station
