Using case studies to consolidate learning

I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon and fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) with a special interest in cataract and glaucoma surgery. My current NHS position as a consultant is at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I also hold an honorary senior lecturer position with Hull York Medical School. I regularly teach and train post grads and under grads.

After graduating in Medicine over 20 years ago, I undertook my ophthalmology training in Yorkshire, and some of the world most renown institutions in London such as St Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye Hospitals. In addition, I received a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from King’s College London in 2020 concentrating on the differing aqueous humour dynamics and healing processes for novel implantable glaucoma surgical devices.

I am involved in national and international glaucoma clinical trials as a principal investigator. I am a regularly invited speaker on an international level and reviewer to several ophthalmic scientific journals. I have received a number of awards including the RCOpth/NIHR best trainee researcher of the year in 2018. I have more than 30 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. I hold the esteemed position of examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in addition to holding a glaucoma lecturer position at City University, London.

Nuffield Health’s Learning Programme has been running successfully for a number of years and is increasing in popularity among all healthcare professionals. Our expert speakers aim to provide valuable education that is relevant to you and will be available to answer any questions you may have within a virtual open forum discussion.

CPD point and certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants after this workshop.
