Title: The Dark Side of Innovation: Peer review, self-regulation and the innovation cost

Peer review is an essential part of the academic system. The process of self-regulation by which we allocated funding, improve the quality of published research and ensure that ‘fake-research’ is kept from decision-makers and the public. However academics are all human and both conscious and subconscious bias is prevalent in the system. It is often challenging to get truly innovative research published since it challenges the vested interests that review it. Speaking from personal experience Professor Matthew Bennett will explore this topic and the cost to innovation. Why not join the discussion and voice your opinion?
