In May 2014, Redbridge Citizens held a Pre-Election Assembly and received commitments from Wes Streeting, on behalf of the Labour Group, on Living Wage, Social Care, and Housing. The Redbridge Citizens Housing Summit is to hold our politicians to account on the three aspects of the housing campaign:
(a) develop Community Land Trust homes - having already received a political commitment to 250 CLT homes, we are looking to secure a deal on the first CLT site and make a plan towards establishing the first tranch of these genuinely affordable homes.
(b) establish a licensing scheme for privately rented properties - we will also be recognising the efforts the council has made towards a licensing scheme for privately rented properties, and support their new submission.
(c) work with us to identify Council properties in need of repair in Redbridge - we will hear about the progress made on the repair of Hyleford Hostel.
We are looking forward to welcoming:
Cllr Jas Athwal - Leader of Redbridge Council (CONFIRMED)
Cllr Farah Hussain - Cabinet Member for Housing (CONFIRMED)
Cllr Helen Coomb - Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Property and Planning (Awaiting Confirmation)
