RedR UK Panel Discussion: Women in Humanitarian Response
Wed 5 April 2017, 18:30 – 20:30 BST
About the Speakers Series
RedR UK has a network of over 1800 carefully selected humanitarian professionals, RedR Members.
The speaker series provides an opportunity for the insights that Members and other humanitarians have gained, from recent work or research undertaken in the field, to be shared more widely.
The series is aimed at RedR Members, Affiliates, humanitarians working in the sector and professionals and students interested in entering the sector.
Women in Humanitarian Response
Disasters kill more women than men, and hit women's livelihoods hardest.
This panel discussion brings together a range of experts, from Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Cash Transfer Programming, to discuss the impact of gender in humanitarian programming and response.
Each panellist brings a wealth of experience from their work in humanitarian response, and will draw on practical examples to look at the impact disasters have on women, and the ways in which different sectors and tools can be used to more effectively respond to assist women in humanitarian emergencies.
Kate Denman - Programme Manager, RedR UK
Isabelle Pelly - Technical Coordinator, Cash and Learning Partnerships (CaLP)
Lisa Reilly - Executive Director, European Interagency Security Forum
Sarah House - WASH Consultant
Welcome drinks will be available from 6.30pm onwards, and the panel discussion will commence from 7pm.
This event is kindly hosted by Arup.
